Please remember that our campuses and playgrounds are closed for safety reasons during this pandemic. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but please do get outside in the sunshine and fresh air. Take a walk, sit on the porch, wave to the neighbors at a safe distance. Research shows that sunshine and fresh air are excellent deterrents to viruses.

We are so pleased to announce that we were notified on Saturday, March 28th that Midkota’s Distance Learning Plan was one of the first 50 plans to be approved by the Governor. As your students begin classes today, please remember that this is a steep learning curve for all of us, and we are in this together. Thanks to all our hardworking staff for making this new opportunity a reality for our school. #midkotastrong

Today we submitted our distance learning plan for state approval. We also posted it to our web site, and you can view it here: https://5il.co/e7je We plan to start lessons on Monday for all classes. We don’t yet know what will or will not work for our students, and it will be a learning experience that we will undertake together. Please stay in communication with your teachers and let them know if something isn’t working for your student. We can always adapt and change as we find out what is effective. We know that this is not easy, and we want to work with you to make this educational opportunity valuable.

With the information we have at this time, and the Governor’s guidance, Midkota will not need to make up THIS week (3/16 - 3/19) of school since it is already calculated into our school year above and beyond the minimum days required. Rich, Linn and Sara are working closely with state officials and all the information that is updated almost hourly. Contingency plans for extended closures and back to school plans are all in the works. We will keep you updated as we know more. Please use the following link to complete a short survey. https://forms.gle/ZfVLYmv8zi27ajAEA

Governor Burgum announced this evening that there will be no school this week for the entire state. The Governor will reevaluate the situation on Friday and update us with any further cancellations. Midkota’s administrative team will be working tomorrow to make plans for coming back to school hopefully in the next week. For any students who need a meal tomorrow, sack lunches will be available for pick up at both schools from 11:30 AM until 12 PM. Staff please stay tuned for further instructions as we are able to provide them. To the Midkota community, as soon as we know more we will share. Please stay in your homes and avoid gatherings to help prevent further spreading of the virus.

The health department information and announcements coming out could change hourly at this point. Please be patient and know that as we know more we will share. On Monday we will be having school as usual but staying in our buildings. No extra activities, practices, field trips etc. We will not make decisions about prom until we have more information closer to that date. We will keep you informed daily of any changes to schedules or updates to our planning. Thank you for your support.
