Hello Midkota families: The Elementary Extended Day Program will begin next week at 7am for the before school program and after school for the afternoon portion. It will run Monday through Thursday. There will be a bus that runs to Mchenry and Glenfield to drop students off. Parents will need to meet the bus at Briss oil in Mchenry and at the high school in Glenfield. If your child lives in Binford or close to Binford you will need to have transportation for them or have them walk home. Please get the enrollment papers in as soon as possible. I encourage you to enroll your child even if they cannot attend daily. The high school program will start after Labor Day and will also run Monday through Thursday in the afternoons. Please reach out to Ms. Larson if you have any questions or need enrollment papers sent home.

For families in need of cooling assistance: Cooling Assistance Available to Qualifying North Dakota Households The Department of Human Services (DHS) and the North Dakota Department of Commerce offer a cooling assistance program that can help qualifying lower-income North Dakota households beat the heat. Operated in cooperation with Community Action Partnership of North Dakota (CAPND) offices, the cooling assistance program can help eligible households with the cost of purchasing and repairing air conditioners and other cooling devices. To participate, households must qualify financially for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which serves households with incomes up to 60% of the state median income. Qualifying income varies by household size. A two-person household can earn up to $42,467 and qualify. Program details are online at the DHS website. Households that participated in LIHEAP this past heating season can contact their local CAPND agency directly if interested. They will need to provide their LIHEAP approval letter. To apply for LIHEAP, visit www.applyforhelp.nd.gov, contact a local human service zone office, or call (800) 823-2417
