My name is Colleen Dalman. I am the Resource Room teacher at Midkota High School.
I received my undergraduate degree from Mayville State College in Elementary Education and Child Development (1977) and my Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of ND (1995).
Over the years my teaching experience has been in all grade levels: Pre-schol through 12th grade. This experience has been in many different locations and schools: Midkota, Finley-Sharon, MayPort C-G, Hillsboro, Fort Totten, Dakota Prairie, Detroit Lakes, Lake Park, Audubo, and Pelican Rapids.
I am married to Wally, a deacon (and retired diesel mechanic). We have 6 grown children: Christina, Tabitha, Wanita, Teresa, Dominic, and Adirana. We also have 14 grandchildren ranging in age from 21 years to 1 month old.
With the renovation and addition to the Midkota High Schook, a growth mindset is taking place. What was once a dream is becoming a reality. I am now located on the main floor (instead of 3rd floor) with a well-lit and remodeled room. It provides a great learning environment.
Based on my experience and observations, I know family always is a huge unfluence on students’ live, however, more influential on the success of students, is their mindset. My role as a resource teaching is to encourage and guide students to achieve their goals, (to grow their mindset). “If you believe…you can achieve!” Whenever I am able, I provide the resources and opportunities for learning to those with special needs….and in my life, ALL KIDS are SPECIAL
